National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse - St. Louis Area (NCADA)

NCADA-St. Louis Area has been The Place to Turn since 1965:

  • For schools seeking effective substance abuse prevention programming and leadership training for their students, and assessments of those who have substance-related issues.
  • For families wanting information, support, and non-biased referral options for their loved ones.
  • For communities interested in forming effective coalitions to prevent and minimize substance abuse.
  • For media and corporations who wish to be aligned with an agency that offers answers and solutions to substance abuse related issues.
  • For an entire region needing effective awareness-raising campaigns to combat emerging drug trends.

Substance abuse

Is the leading contributor to death and injury among young people. This is unacceptable. Teenagers and young adults—with their lives full of promise and untapped potential—are too often struck down from a condition which is not only treatable, but preventable.
So one of the NCADA’s major goals is to teach young people the skills needed to resist the pressures to use and abuse drugs. We offer proven, evidence- and best-practices-based curricula for every grade from K-12 in nearly 300 schools in the region.

Youth Leadership Programs

We offer youth leadership programs and a wide range of non-school-based prevention services. In a normal year the NCADA offers prevention and education services to over 100,000 people.

NCADA is a proud member of the United Way, meets the 20 Better Business Bureau standards for charity accountability with an A+ rating and was a recipient of the BBB TORCH Award for exceptional customer service and ethical business practices. NCADA has also been recognized by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch as a Top Workplace in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
